Vintage Bessarabian Rose Kilim Rug 380 x 225 cm (12'5" x 7'4") – Black Floral Wool Area Rug, Moldova
No two pieces are alike — each one carries the hand of the person who made it.
A large, museum-worthy vintage Bessarabian rose kilim – hand-woven in Bessarabia (Moldova) roughly 30–40 years ago and in impeccable condition. Giant pink, crimson and golden roses bloom against a deep black field, framed by teal and emerald acanthus leaves, ornate scrolled cartouches and a rich border of golden volutes and stylised urns.
Rugs like this were woven as heirloom pieces for family homes across Bessarabia, and the dramatic black-ground "rose" design is among the most sought-after styles of Eastern European folk weaving. At 380 x 225 cm it is a true statement piece for a living room, dining room, loft or large bedroom.
